How to Export Your AutoCAD Drawing to PDF for Printing

Sending the wrong export settings is the most common reason engineering prints come out at the wrong scale. Follow these steps exactly.

Step 1: Set the Correct Page Size in AutoCAD

In AutoCAD, go to File → Print (or Ctrl+P). Under 'Paper size', select the exact sheet size your submission requires (A1, A0, A3, etc.). If the sheet size is not listed, click 'Add' to create a custom paper size matching your requirements exactly.

Step 2: Set the Correct Plot Scale

In the 'Plot scale' section, set your scale correctly: 1:100 means 1mm on paper = 100mm in real life. Common engineering scales: 1:50, 1:100, 1:200, 1:500. If your drawing is not to scale (e.g., for a schematic diagram), select 'Fit to paper' instead — but only if your college allows it. Do not use 'Fit to paper' for submission drawings that require a specific scale.

Step 3: Export as PDF (not DWG)

In the Printer/Plotter section, select 'DWG To PDF.pc3' as the printer. This creates a PDF file from your drawing without needing a physical printer. Save the PDF. Open it, zoom in to check line quality and text sharpness before sending.

Step 4: Check the Output Before Sending

Open the exported PDF. Check: (1) All drawing lines are crisp and visible, (2) Text labels and dimensions are readable, (3) The title block is correctly positioned within the sheet border, (4) The page size in the PDF viewer matches your intended print size (check Document Properties in the PDF viewer). Then WhatsApp the PDF to +91 70210 72757.

Using Revit, SketchUp, or Other Software?

Export your drawing as PDF using the software's built-in PDF export at the correct page size. Revit: File → Export → PDF. SketchUp: File → Export → 2D Graphic → PDF. Always verify the paper size in the exported PDF before sending.

Choose Your Paper Type

Bond Paper

Standard white paper for most engineering prints. Durable, crisp, and the most commonly required paper for engineering submissions. Suitable for AutoCAD plots, structural drawings, and architectural layouts. Available in all sizes from A4 through A00. This is the default for most student submissions.

Tracing Paper

Semi-transparent drafting paper for overlay drawings. Required by some architecture departments for traditional drafting submissions. Useful when drawings need to be layered over each other for comparison or when specified in your submission guidelines. Mention tracing paper when WhatsApping your file so we prepare the correct stock.

Engineering Drawing Printing FAQs

Can you print AutoCAD drawings in Virar?

Yes. We print AutoCAD PDF exports in all engineering sizes from A4 through A00. Always export your drawing to PDF at the correct print scale before sending to ensure accurate dimensions on paper.

What file format should I send for engineering drawing printing?

PDF is strongly recommended. Export from AutoCAD at the correct scale (1:100, 1:50, 1:200, etc.). JPG and PNG also accepted but may lose sharpness on large sheets — PDF guarantees crisp vector lines at any size.

Is tracing paper available for engineering drawings in Virar?

Yes. Both standard bond paper and tracing paper are available. Mention your paper preference when you WhatsApp your file and we will prepare the correct stock before you arrive.

What is the price for A1 and A0 engineering drawing printing?

Pricing varies by size and complexity. WhatsApp your file for an exact quote before travelling — we respond quickly and can confirm the price and readiness time.

Can I print multiple engineering sheets for one project submission?

Absolutely. We handle bulk engineering drawing submissions daily. WhatsApp all your sheets as a single PDF or individual files and we print and bundle them together for your submission.

How long does large format printing take?

A single A1 sheet prints in 3–5 minutes. A set of 10 engineering sheets takes roughly 30–45 minutes. WhatsApp your file in advance so printing is underway before you arrive.
